About the GRID\figure 8 trackpack:

Thanks to Heddly having me tweak his spline points for his Crazy 8 track and me wanting to have some new GRID derby tracks for GRID, I got the track making bug again and decided on making a couple new GRID derby type race tracks for Flatout 2. Since we are not able to make news tracks for GRID.

Then Shadow got involved with the idea of converting GRID Jupiter derby car to Flatout 2 to go with the new tracks. :) I email Codemasters about this and they gave us permission to a public release of Flatout 2 Jupiter derby car. THANKS Codemasters!!

I also ask Kruger if he had any new tracks to add to the trackpack and at this time he did not, but he had some new fonts he had been working on. So I included his new_fonts.bfs file in the rar file.

Also Heddly added a new camera for the ragdoll.

Whats in the new trackpack bfs file?

You will find 2 new figure 8 tracks done by Heddly, 2 new GRID derby type tracks done by me ( Purple44 ) and new Jupiter derby car done by Shadow and Heddly.

The GRID Jupiter derby car is car #46. First car in carpack 1 row. ( use your Up\Down arrow keys to checkout the different rows of custom cars )

How to install new trackpack: ( will need Winrar to unpack rar files: http://www.win-rar.com/ )

Step 1:
First you will need our FOJ Community Mod for Flatout 2 ( you have patch Flatout 2 to v1.2 already? ). You will need to download all 5 parts of Community Mod:

All 5 parts can be downloaded from our ModDB homepage download section:

After you have download all 5 parts of Community and unpack the rar files and have all 5 Community bfs files in your Flatout 2 folder ( mine is E:\Flatout 2 mod ) and you tested Community Mod with this “patch” file: ( comes with part 5 )

and Flatout 2 with Community mod start up just fine, then your are ready to install the new trackpack! :)

Step2:
Now your ready to download GRID-fig8-jup-trackpack.rar file. After downloading and unpacking rar file and putting GRID-fig8-jup-trackpack.bfs file into your Flatout 2 folder, now copy over the “patch” file that came in download. If open “patch” file with Notepad, your patch file should look like this:

Now you should be ready to fire up your modded Flatout 2 and test out the new tracks and new Jupiter derby car.

Where do I look to find the new tracks?

To find custom tracks in Community Mod for Flatout 2, go to “single race” mode, scroll over to “FIELD” icon, hit enter. You will see the stock track icons. To see the custom track icons, hit your “UP” arrow key and you will see the custom track icons. Use “Right” arrow key to scroll right until you see the “GRID Derby Race Short” track icon.

Now you can hit ENTER to select your car or you can hit the “Delete” key to bring up the single player options. Here you can change “Game Mode” to Race, Pong Race, Derby or Test. You can change the lap count or timer for a derby. You can change “Visual Damage” setting if you to want see the car body get real twisted. You can turn “Ragdoll” OFF. You can change what car or Class of cars the AI drivers use.


You will find the “ Parking Lot Fig8” and “GRID Derby Race” tracks under the Race track icon and the “City Central Crazy8 “ track under the City track icon. ******************************************************************************
What about Kruger's new fonts?

If you want to checkout Kruger's new text fonts and the new start and finish fonts, then copy over the “new_fonts.bfs” file to your Flatout 2 folder. And then copy over the “patch” file in the “ \New fonts by Kruger patch file “ folder to your Flatout 2 folder.

Or you could install the FOJ Mod Manager De_Stan did for us and is included in the part 5 download to make your own “patch” file on the fly that will look like this:

The “new_fonts.bfs” and other skin bfs like “car46_jupiter_p44_customskin.bfs” are safe files you can add to you “patch” file that will not stop you from see an online Flatout 2 Community Mod host.
