Same reason how some people have already seen the new Superman film etc. We have had opportunities for players to go hands on, EG Expo, events in the US and across Europe.
Just to confirm, there will be no demo, but before you all start let me explain. Making a demo isn't as simple cutting a portion of the game out and making it available, in essence it's almost like creating a mini version of the game. It takes a great deal of time and more importantly resources, as such we've literally pooled every available hand into creating the final version of GRID 2, which you'll be able to play in approximately two weeks time.
We've put all our effort into creating one hell of a game and didn't want to take any development time away from it, doing so would have had an affect on the final product. To put it into perspective we were making finishing touches day and night (no exaggeration) over the last few weeks. If we had to create a demo build this would have likely had a knock on effect and all that extra polish, those final tweaks would not have been possible.
Will Codemasters refund PC players money if GRID 2 does not start and run on their computer? One reason to have a demo for the PC side.
Well guess I will wait until the pre-order guys get their GRID 2 downloaded and installed and they get to play some the game offline and online and then see what they have to say in the forum(s) before I decide to buy GRID 2, if I can not tryout a demo first.
I have waited almost 5 years for a new GRID, I can wait a little longer.
Now if GRID 2 had derby racing, I would take the risk and buy GRID 2 on release day.

Lucky I got a spare 7300 PCI express video card I keep around for testing, so I should be able to race Flatout 2 tonight. Look like I get a new video card for GRID 2 and Bugbear NCG. Now to decide on what card to buy for $200 ,
Gulbroz - How is it there is nearly no nVidia in that test (3 out of 11)? in particular they nearly skipped all GTX5xx series (except for the 560Ti which is a cut down GTX560 and is not worth the money). I'd go for nVidia - I always did (I have now a GTX570). Cuda is the only way to benefit from the new render engine in latest Blender and it's not working with ATI/AMD... Purple44 - GRRR lost my post, so here short version, decided on the 660. The 7870 had too many RMAs at newegg. Purple44 - sorry guys, could not make the FO2 racing tonight, was busy helping my folks. Heddly - 5-11-13 = is anybody racing tonight? Purple44 - ya we racing, got 3 slots open it anybody want to join royce host
Mopower [08|May 11:52 PM]: Hmm, any chance of some new screenshots or vids soon bug thugs? Purple44 [09|May 04:19 PM]: second that Joonas Laakso [10|May 01:32 AM]: Can't say yet. Big plans, materializing soonish, but can't say anything concrete just now.
I did not pay much attention to the yellow face at bottom-right corner of my Tunngle window. And most players show up in the network list without a red X. Figure the few players with a red X, live far away from me and had a poor connection.
The Tunngle port forwarding wiki does say this: Tunngle works without the need of a port forward on most systems. As long as you can connect to a reasonable amount of players in a network you shouldn't worry. If, on the contrary, you see all other players in the network nick list marked with a red X, you might have to do this.
I went ahead and did the port forwarding of 11155 port to my gaming computer, since I use a router with 3 computers. After I restarted gaming computer and Tunngle, I have a green face now. I don't know if it will help, but can't hurt.
I don't use a software firewall or an anti virus program with my gaming computer, just the firewall in the router and I assign a new IP address internally to my gaming computer. I just play games on gaming computer, I do my Internet surfing on my other 2 computers and use Avast to protect them.
Video will give you a preview of the start of a GRID 2 career in single player.
Medium difficult setting look to easy in video. I think I will try a harder setting when I get GRID 2. I wonder if the guy driving in the video was a wheel or a pad player?
The last track in video, Côte d'Azur, will show off the eye candy in GRID 2.
Here a track list of what been confirm so far:
Autodromo Internacional do Algarve (real circuit) Brands Hatch (real circuit) Barcelona (city track) California (openroad/point to point) Chicago (city track) Côte d'Azur (openroad/point to point) Dubai (city track) Indianapolis Motorspeedway (real circuit) Miami (city track) Okutama (circuit) Paris (city track) Red Bull Ring (real circuit) Yas Marina (real circuit)
Yesterday I register over at teamvvv.com so I could ask Allen for more details about the wheel being slower than a pad in GRID 2. Here what he had to say:
Grid 2
By: Alan Boiston Sure I can give some additional feedback.
Playing the game at Eurogamer the wheel (G27) felt very sensitive on the American muscle car, playing it with the pad felt like a different game, so much easier, so much more stable.
Later in our visit to Codies and playing on the wheel in our first run of the A1 Ring and though still sensitive the balance of the car made it easier for more consistent times. Moving to the pad and I was immediately quicker, I could take corners at higher speeds and with greater stability. Going back to the wheel with my new found knowledge of what was possible my lap times decreased but the instant cornering of the pad just felt quicker. Though there was a gap of anything up to 4 seconds in times, players were either slower or less consistent with the wheel.
Moving to more recent previews and more practice (now I have a preview build) and it depends on the wheel used and the car used. The triple screen vids with the CSR felt fantastic, I could push and commit to corners. My G25 does not feel like that (PS3 version) and feels very different.
To conclude, it is theoretically possible that the wheel is as quick as the pad though the gap between pad and wheel can differ between car, wheel make etc. On testing I still find the game way easier with a pad though more fun with a wheel. I'll continue testing and support this with lots of video coverage in the coming weeks as we near release.
Here’s a sneaky peek at the PS3 version, note how I barely turn the wheel, basically tippy toeing, this particular section is far easier with the pad.
