Criterion Games has announced on their own site that they are developping burnout paradise for the pc. There could be some awesome modding oppurtunities in there and the multiplayer experience is something you just shouldn't miss.
The game has extra content in developement and they are even going to add motorbikes to drive and crash. Also a full day-night cycle has been announced.
It might be worth to look out for. Wink

Remember,all the PS2 and PC versions of GTA were not released at the same time.

GTA: San Andreas
PS2: October 25, 2004
PC version: June 7, 2005

GTA: Vice City
PS2: October 29, 2002
PC: May 13, 2003

GTA 3
PS2: October 22, 2001
PC: May 21, 2002

So I predict PC version to be announced in a few months with a release date around Jan.1, 2009

I won't be buying it. The only thing I would want that it has and the Flatout series doesn't is free roam.

You can compare it to Flatout series style but it is and always will be Burnout which is a style on it's own Wink I love the Flatout series and I love the Burnout series, flatout is the total destruction and burnout is the thrill of high-speed dodging and last milisecond fingertwists Tongue (in my opinion)

Well Burnout has been console only for quite some time now, nice to see it come to the pc and maybe some modding will be possible Cheesy

You will not pwn the PS3 with that card my friend ^^
I myself have a PS3 and a good PC, well on the same 27inch screen Unreal Tournament 3 and others look very much alike Wink
And nothing against the power of cellprocessing XD

Nway an update to the topic.
They are now close to releasing the Bikes for Burnout Paradise but nothing much has been heard of the pc version except they were at Leipzig Games Convention demoing with a 3screen setup.
They always talk about multiscreening so it's about to run in some sick resolutions. Time to bring out the dual DVI people and fire up those big ass TV's.
Seems a normal 21" pc monitor just won't be enough Wink

Hi Zenomart, it's been a while since you have made a post. Have you tried the FOJ Community Mod yet?

Just wondering what you thought of it. We are always looking for ways to improve it and make it better.

Good to see your still around.  Cheesy

Check out one of the new cars that they are coming out with.  Shocked

http://www.criteriongames.com/packs/legendary_cars.php

Here is a nice video to watch.It starts with BurnOut and works it's way through previous games ,up to BurnOut Paradise and that this where you see the action.

Kinda reminds me of FO2 and what Ultimate Carnage should have been.  Huh?

This is good news, thanks ABA for the link. Smart move by Criterion. I just sent them a email telling them so. Will definitely give Burnout Paradise demo a try when it get release. I don't know about the crashing part of the game if that for me, but if the racing online is like Flatout and derby racing with GRID, then I will be happy.

Here’s what you didn’t know - anyone will be able to trial the game for FREE.

When the full game’s released in Feb ’09, we want all our PC players to be sure it runs perfectly on their system, before they commit to buying it.  We also love the game and feel confident that if you try it, you’ll want to sign up for more!

But there’s a lot of game to show you!

In Burnout Paradise, you’re free to explore a massive city, loaded with fun things to do and places to go.  Pull up at any of the 120 junctions to start one of 5 event types  – Burning Route, Marked Man, Stunt Run, Race and Road Rage.  See if you can find the beach, quarry, dirt track and airfield playgrounds spread through our five boroughs.  The city also morphs seamlessly into an online world anytime you want to hook up with your friends and cruise around beating challenges.

So rather than restricting what you can do, we're letting you play through the start of the full game for a limited period.

Wish all game makers would do this before releasing final version of their game for the PC, would stop a lot of bad press when their game has trouble working on all the different hardware and versions of Windows out there. Game makers have a tough job these days to get a game to run on all PCs.

Hmm after watching video, I think a may of found a replacement for Flatout next year.

I like what I saw in video about Burnout Paradise and Criterion seem to be a game maker that care about keeping it fan base happy. Free DLCs for the consoles and releasing early PC demo of Burnout Paradise. Smiley

BugBear after releasing Flatout 2 and patches, and Codemasters after releasing GRID and patches have gone quiet towards their fan base. Sad

Now off to see what I can learn about this new PC version of Burnout Paradise now that Criterion got my interest up.

The PC version come with the 3 DLC the consoles guys got:

The Ultimate Box will be available in Feb 2009 and will contain:

    * The original Burnout Paradise
    * Codename: Cagney
    * Burnout Bikes
    * Burnout Paradise Party
    * Plus a mountain of new refinements

What, there customs skins that got added to Cagney DLC!!

Cagney also introduced 2 new cars, some new paint-jobs for your favourite cars and our first fan-created paint-jobs.

Didn't Codemaster say they were going to do a custom skin pack for GRID and it never happen. Sad Codies should of put the custom skins that where done for GRID and added them to the 8-ball pack and then let the consoles guys and PC guys download the DLC for free. Would of created a lot of good will!!

********************************************************

This sound like it could be fun online:

Online Road Rage takes our existing Road Rage event and focuses it on great team play.

The online version of this game required a complete reinvention. Players are split into 2 teams - red and blue. One team must race to a series of checkpoints the other must stop them. The chasing team can see the runners and checkpoints displayed on the map. They also have boost enabled and a significant speed advantage. The running team does not have these luxuries and must survive through great teamwork and skilful driving.

***************************************************

Click this link to check the online modes with Cagney:

http://www.criteriongames.com/packs/cagney_online_racing.php

Here line from unrank racing:

The host can customise the route by choosing a start point, finish point, and up to 15 checkpoints. Keep it straight and simple or create a complex endurance race, the choice is yours.

Custom track on the fly! Smiley

*****************************************************

With bikes DLC, night time racing was added. Look like it only works with the bikes unless get change with PC version.

The clock is fully customisable - you can compress a full day into 24 minute, 48 minute, 2 hours, 24 hours or have it match the time on your PlayStation clock. Alternatively, you can fix the time of day at sunrise, sunset, midnight or midday. These options are available from the \"Under The Hood\" menu - just look for \"Time of Day\".

******************************************

On this Burnout PC page you will see a video of Burnout Paradise playing across 3 monitors and a link to download movie of Burnout Paradise PC version.

Be warn, moive is 1920x600 ( 3 monitor resolution ). My 17" monitor only does 1440x900, so part of movie was off screen and video is a Quicktime video ( *.mov )

Here something different, click link for pic:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/criteriongames/3010104971/sizes/o/

"Fill the gauge and hit boost to trigger burning flame trails from your back wheels.  The 88 Special’s fast, manoeuvrable and great in the air.

In fact, if you want to take off, this is just the car for you.  Hit L3 to switch to hover mode – the wheels retract and the car takes off and hovers through Paradise City at head height.

Seriously.  It hovers."
