ABA are you using the must current version of bfs2pack? Here link to the one me and Shadow use a lot to pack and unpack bfs files :
bfs2pack by Karok/GulBroz, release 1.5
If unpacking bfs file, drag bfs file into BugBear window and in window that pop up, tell it where to unpack bfs file.
Same thing to pack a \data folder, drag \data folder into BugBear window and in window that pop up, tell it where to put new bfs file and what to name it.OOPS, did not notice this is Flatout 1 section. Here a post from Pking that should help: ----- bfsunpack.exe by Karok ------
Instructions for adding Mods to Flatout
Extract bfsunpack to your flatout game directory
drag and drop "common1.bfs" on top of bfsunpack.exe
drag and drop "common2.bfs" on top of bfsunpack.exe
drag and drop "europe.bfs" on top of bfsunpack.exe
these files will open your command prompt screen and take several minutes to unpack
this will unpack the files to (for Win xp) C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\data
move the data folder to your flatout game directory
delete or move the "filesystem.ini" file, from your flatout directory
you are now ready for any and all mods
ie. new car skins
Now I remember, the \data folder is unpack under your Documents and Settings and username your using when unpacking. After you get all the bfs files unpack then move or copy \data folder to where you want it on hard drive.

I don't remember the data file going there 3 yrs ago when I started this madness. No wonder I couldn't find it. Now lets see if I can remember how to install and set up those EXTREME Hot Rods I once had. Thanks Purple

Don't know for sure, have not tried it under Vista, but would thnik it would be same folder since Vista has C:\Documents and Settings folder too.
But to be sure, you could do a search for flatout2.db file ( this is database file for Flatout 2 ). Where you fine this file is where Flatout 2 got unpack.

I don't know for vista, not using it. To get the bfs packer to unpack a data folder into same directory as your .bfs file. Right click on bfs file and choose "open with" , then you will not see bfs packer exe, so browse to it. Add it to list. Now make sure bfs unpacker is highlighted and click the checkbox to open with that program all the time. The next time you click on a .bfs file for flatout1 it will unpack with a data folder in the same directory as your .bfs file. (its bin a long time but thats what I recall doing)

Could try searching C: drive for " 04_flat.ogg " file. This is one of the music files that you will find in the unpack \data\music folder.
If don't find file on C: drive, try searching the other drives. If you can't find this file on your hard drive, then the common1.bfs and common2.bfs files did not get unpack.

Why unpack ghostcars n menu.bfs? Why not just use a patch file to load ghostcars n menu.bfs?
