Hi !

I got a good vibe about this game. I was sceptical at the begining, with the handling. But after some tuning, you can have a better feeling with the cars.

I can see a lot of bad points actually. The sound is waaaaaaaaay too loud, and sometimes not that good, a big quantity of cars have too much oversteer, there are some little bugs around and the loadings are extremely long. But it's not killing the game.

The visuals are awesome, the tracks are nice. They all have the same theme park (lol) but that's not like you got the time to watch the sky in a race.
And the sensations are great, great sense of speed. Even the cars don't really fit the specs in real life, you can feel you're driving a powerfull car.

I got some vids if you wanna see some cars in action :

Thx about the quick tuning tip, it can be usefull, have to try that !!

EA have done a great mid-sim game, and it's nothing like Need For Speed. It's more like GTR meeting Grid. They have done a great game, and even it's really familiar with GRID it's more difficult, and the customisation is a big plus I missed since Forza on my old Xbox. That's exactly because of this miss I started skinning on GRID and GTR.

See ya

In the second half of interview, they talk about patching Shift. It sounded like a patch is in the testing stage, may see it release sometime this month.

The first patch was to enable LAN play and mouse functionality. I hhope the next one fixes the bouncing cars, before I get to that level of play.  Cheesy

Good news Shadow  NFS Shift: Import-only filter Initial release. Use autoupdater to get the filter.   Grin

You'll like Shift. As far as the "sim" reputation, it has more to do with your controller setup than making adjustments to the cars. You get to buy Upgrades for your car like in FO2 Career Mode.

I still can't get my Updater to work but Oleg has updated the latest version of Zmodeler2 to include the Shift filter.

I found a post at NoGrip Racing-[HOW TO] Prepare NFS:Shift for modding by unpacking all .bff files that explains how to unpack your game folder and includes links to the 3 files you need, which includes a game_unpack.bat file for one-click uppacking. Thanks to redi for the quick tutorial.

I found a download of BFF Repacker GUI at NFS-Planet but it seems that most users are playing the game unpacked. There are Mods and skins being made already.

Maybe Zmod 2.2.2 can import tracks also. Then it would be even better if Oleg can create an export filter.

I should mention that the unpacker takes quite a while.

Thanks for the info Heddly.Just finished importing and looking at demo cars. They are excellent models with the choice of stock high poly interior or the race version depending on what upgrad kit you choose. Again with NFS you will need to spend a good hour deciding if you are gonna use any kits, can be a pain as stock is always great but never hurts to spice it up some with a more aggresive look.

One surprise is having no doors again, last time that happened was nfs most wanted when there was also no trunk or hood either. The suspension and underside is a joke so I guess in shift the cars don't flip over at all. But with a quick chop shop for the doors the cars are A+++ for converting. Damage parts already done to meshes so is great for fo1/fo2 along with the low poly model for menucar. I might even scrap some of my gta4 grid cars and swap in the shift models since not happy with the turnout of a few cars.

Also a modding update, zmod filter is only to import cars into zmod then you can prepare it to export into a supported game like flatout/gta4/rfactor.

It seems the 3dsimed program has taken it a step further with their latest update to import and export nfs shift cars/tracks. Will let heddly hopefully post some feedback since he has the program to test it out when he has time.

Would be great to be able to export into nfs shift since the last nfs game was nfs most wanted that was moddable with car meshes.
