I'm going open this new thread for discussing Team6 new Flatout5. First off, I'm going repost the Team6 answers I posted in the Want a new Flatout for the PC? If yes, then we need your help. thread.

Luckily, FlatOut PC/X360 is still on schedule.

**********************************************

Good news, I can confirm Flatout5 is still on schedule and we may see it release before the end of this year, 2011. If Team6 don't run into to many snags along the way.

We've got a reply from Team6 to everyone who posted a request on the questbook, check it out here ( text is to long for one post ):

Reply on the QuestBook for FlatOut5 for PC (amongst other platforms)

Part 1:

lastday4u @ 23-05-2011 15:06:36
Also I would love to keep the old computers from Flatout2, I hate sofia the most because she is sooo fast with such slow cars! But I love the way Frank Malcov cannot drive in a straight line and how sally taylor cannot control her RoadKing.. xD
+++ We're programming different characteristics for each character in FlaTout5.

KSFR @ 22-05-2011 14:09:34
"I'd definitely like to see the drivers from FO2 and Ultimate Carnage return. No racing game has ever given me a true rival the way the FO series has. I love to hate Jack Benton" I would like that to Smiley
+++ We're not allowed to reuse the same names, so i hope you like the new ones Smiley I guess we have to put some b*****s in too now.

Ram8113 @ 04-05-2011 19:47:55
. Honestly, I'd rather see an HD remake with maybe some more tracks than a full blown sequel that changes every aspect of the game.
+++ We can't use the old engine, so it's all new. Still, we try to do this with as much respect to FlatOut as the budget allows us.

Ram8113 @ 04-05-2011 19:47:16
+++ More destructionmaps, and we've taken a look at Eve. Never heared of it before. Trailer races.. is on our schedule (for years now), but FlatOut won't get it. Unless you can get enough votes to get it as DLC

Ram8113 @ 04-05-2011 19:46:39
More cars on screen: +++ Done.
Editor: We'll release 'some' tools but we can't do something like farcry ..

FrankoManno @ 26-04-2011 06:56:19
Make a pc version that is 'moddable' - be able to import decals, paint the car etc. Flatout and Flatout 2 were great racing games, hope a new Flatout pc version would stay on the same road to what made them great games. And visit Flatout Joint, they made the game more than what it was.
+++ We'll release the original source of some of the cars and their textures so you can modify those. Probably we'll also deliver tools to import these new mods (model + texture) ingame. Not sure exactly how we will do this.

lastday4u @ 16-04-2011 19:36:13
You can do a in car view on Flatout2, I think you need the mod though..(visit flatoutjoint.com) Smiley
+++ Incar camera is possible, but you won't see interiors.

Alexman18 @ 11-04-2011 01:28:24
Make another flatout for wii with more race tracks and four player split screen capabilities.
+++ If you find a publisher / investor for this, we'll build it with pleasure.

Inspiral66 @ 10-04-2011 21:47:30
The prospect of another quality Flatout game for the PC loosens the straps on my wallet! Just make sure you release it on Steam!!
+++ Steam is our main target for the new PC version

Pl0xerdon @ 22-03-2011 13:08:44
what flatout needs,if it gets console version,is visual tuning. and track editor. or an awesome mode, kamikaze. the 12 racers(or whatever the amount is)get split up in 2-each half goes around the track,in another direction....but they will collide Cheesy
+++ Shit, I wish you wrote this earlier. Or that I read this earlier. Kamikaze mode sounds like a good idea, but we can't do it right now anymore. If you've got some time left, please write down what the main goal of this is (points like destruction derby? or something more like that burnout "create expensive accidents and get a medal" mode?

lastday4u aka -ZebreHeaD- @ 14-03-2011 15:00:57
I had demolition racer on ps1, it was pretty cool, especially the demolition derby map, it was the shape of a bowl literally, and ou start on the tip of the bowl (with about 20 opponents), and then you go straight downs the bowl and into the middle madness! 500 points for landing on top of someone. I was thinking we could maybe have a buddy list in the game?
+++ We do have a hill, but it turned out i've should have made a bowl.. remind me to make the Hill public so you guys can modify it. And make it a bowl.
Buddy list: Steam has it automatically. There you go.

Lucky16 @ 12-03-2011 03:39:40
I've been a fan of the genre for many years, back to the DOS days of Whiplash(AKA Fatal Racing) and Destruction Derby. Whiplash had rising and falling track surfaces that gave all of the cars a real pounding. It was always fun to get "Death from Above" points in Demolition Racer as well. Thanks for making a new Flatout game. I want one.
+++ Death from above will now probably become an achievement.

lastday4u aka -ZebraheaD- @ 08-03-2011 14:23:16
Is there any projected release month or year for a new flatout on PC?
+++ If i'll take a guess, at the beginning of the holiday 2011

Kamikave @ 05-03-2011 23:25:51
Ah... I dream of a new Flatout on PC. And if you're looking for new game modes, how about resurrecting the old "wrecking racing" mode from Destruction Derby, where you had to score points by making the others cars spin ?
+++ We've taken efforts to make loads more destruction derby arenas, but the spin thing is new to me? Is it some kind of mutator?

lastday4u aka -ZebraHeaD- @ 01-03-2011 14:46:14
I was thinking a protect the hero mode? Whatever you want to call it. The idea was that there are 2 teams, and each team needs to protect their leader, as the leaders race (to finish the race), the opposite teams must stop them, but of course there is the hazard of hitting your own leader. Or it could just be that 6 cars race one way, 6 cars race the other way, and whoever reaches the finish line 1st (right or wrong way) wins. (Or it could be 3 of each team racing one way to make it more fun).
+++ We've had something similar in an old taxi game of ours (SuperTaxiDriver2006) and it turned out to be real fun. We'll try implementing something like this in the Monstertruck missions. (protect the leader)

why not have it for ps3 and xbox 360. having it on the wii must stink but its new and diffrent but you won't be as fast or destructive. i tried racing on it with mario cart and it sucked i am a huge fan of flatout 1, 2, and ultimate carnage but i will not buy it if its on the wii
+++ Well, luckily for you the Wii version is hardly available..

The Revvenge @ 11-02-2011 20:50:18
It's quite possible to dodge and hide from Trucks in a Chili, as there are places that are much harder (but not impossible) to reach with a Truck, and if you throw your steer and brake, a Truck might just soar past instead of hitting you. On the other hand Trucks can work together to hit Chilis anyway, or have one going in the other direction, so he can hit the Chilis head-on while they are watching their backs.
+++ We've got something like a Chili and we got bulldozers and busses. And we've got places you can get stuck in. Enjoy!

The Revvenge @ 11-02-2011 20:48:54
The Truck is not to race the Chilis, but to try and destroy them. The Chilis try to dodge and hide, but also try not to be in last place (of the Chilis that is, as the Truck doesn't count), so they have to race as well. Whichever Chili finishes last in that race, or is first to be destroyed, will take a Truck as well in the next race, meaning there are two Trucks hunting Chilis.
+++ Unlock the Tank in FlatOut5 and hunt down as many chili-look-a-likes as you want. You'll go slow though.. For FlatOut5, we've got plenty of classes that make the most of this strategy: you've got the heavy slow cars, but also the very fast but fragile sportscars (even formula one cars..) and everything inbetween. Let's hope you enjoy what we've tried to do here..

The Revvenge @ 11-02-2011 20:46:40
Something I really felt was missing, was to change the appearance of your car. There were 5 standard paintschemes, all basically the same design but with different colours. The choice of more colours or even a few different designs would be really cool, in my opinion.
+++ Due to X360 disc limitations (8gb or something) we have problems adding more than 5-7 colors for each car. We had more for some cars, but were forced to delete them. (every colour scheme also has specular maps, and 3 damagetextures: mb's go pretty fast by then..). Still, our cars have more differences: Different paintings, decals, and more colours for everyone!

The Revvenge @ 11-02-2011 20:46:17
The above is things I'd really like to see back. Things I hope won't be added are, as I mentioned before, power-ups or constant high-speed wall-grinding.rnrnAs for additions or changes to the game, well I've got a few ideas there too.
+++ We'll get rid of the healthpackages in destructionderby (we had those in the Wii version) and the high-speed wallgrinding is something we'll try to avoid. (in the current versions the cars even drive up the wall.. but this is work in progress:) )

The Revvenge @ 11-02-2011 20:45:56
Another good thing, I felt, was the fact there were 11 opponents in the offline modes with their own names. To me, at least, it seemed they also had their own styles. Sofia Martinez, for instance, really seemed to try and race fair, not touching you unless you drove into her. Frank Malcov drove like a madman, sometimes at the front, but often at the back, spun out.
+++ See top of list (will be done)

The Revvenge @ 11-02-2011 20:45:28
I was never big on the derbies or the stunts, though I enjoyed how the stunts, too, showed you needed to learn to master them too. Figuring out where to launch, what angle to use and when to nudge all took some time and felt wonderful when you finally managed to get gold in Carnage Mode.
+++ Sorry, you have to figure them out yourselves now. No more help / showing how it's done..

The Revvenge @ 11-02-2011 20:44:58
I also felt it was really good to have an arcade racing game like this not have power-ups in races, or having you grind every single wall in order to get around the track. Sure, there were a few guard-rails here and there, but FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage was really also a game where you needed to use brakes.
+++ That's why we made those arrows in FlatOut5 hurt so much. No guard-rails (except in the 'speed' gamemode).

The Revvenge @ 11-02-2011 20:44:30
What worked really well in FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage were the different routes through the various tracks. You could decide to take a jump or go through some tires or other stuff that gave you nitro, but you could also avoid them to maintain speed. Finding out what was the best way to get around the track was really fun and gave you an edge, once you found it, in online racing.
+++ We tried.

The Revvenge @ 11-02-2011 20:44:02
Anyway, since I liked FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage so much, I thought I'd give my two cents on what I would like to see in a new FlatOut. First of all, I would definately want to see it come to either Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 or the PC, simply because I don't have a Wii (I know, how selfish).
+++ For that 2 cents, you get an X360 and PC version. Not the PS3 version. You need 3 cents for that.

The Revvenge @ 11-02-2011 20:42:39
I've just tried to post something here, but apparently there's a character limit, so I'll split it up into multiple posts:
+++ Was thinking you're the only one posting, with all those posts.. perhaps you should write a book. Or a design paper. And send it to our publisher Smiley

DJM0128 @ 08-02-2011 22:40:39
Copy Flatout 1 derby cars, with flatout 2 normal cars, add some dirt forest tracks and mayhem. can't go wrong.
+++ You'll be amazed..

Part 2:

lastday4u aka ZebreHeaD @ 08-02-2011 13:40:42
Well I like the idea of the loop track, that was actually submitted my college mate, but he is on holiday atm. Anyways, it is hard to picture what you are saying, maybe pictures would illustrate it better? Nevertheless, it will be a big challenge in getting a track done like that. Firstly just concentrate on the main flatout gameplay and graphics, once the game is more or less done, they should consider all these ideas.
+++We've got single loopings, crossed loopings and double loopings. (2 loopnigs coming together: 2 ways in, one way out). Enjoy.

Purple44 @ 03-02-2011 11:30:40

*** Or do fig8 track with a cork screw bridge that take you from lower level to top of rock cliff, then you circle around and go under cork screw bridge. If car not fast enough, it hit cliff wall and falls to track below and have to do bridge over again. Or have dirt road that will take you up the side of cliff to got back on top of cliff if fall off cork screw bridge
+++Wii version got a cork screw, and IF we're allowed to do DLC a "stuntcar" version will be one of the first to be developed by us. I'll show you corkscrews then .. (6)

jajaHoi @ 03-02-2011 10:09:35
Maybe we could get some looped tracks on the new FlatouT? Like you have to go super fast and go round a corkscrew or loop, and going too slow would mean you'd fall off??? Because I was playing "wipe out fusion" the other day and it seems like a good idea, maybe even a figure of 8 sort of loop if you see what I mean. By loop, I mean the car goes up of the ground, goes upside down in the air and comes back down the ramp..
+++Ah. That's what you mean with Loop. Not looping. (...). A loop is currenly part of the plan for the Detroit Theme. (in some kind of Evil Knievel kind of .. barrel). You'll see it when it's there Wink

DeadMonty @ 27-01-2011 11:25:00
New Flatout! Pleeasseeee!!!!! I want more destruction! Less of GFWL! FO:UC works for meh, but GWFL spoils it with its errors...!
Iowaboy @ 27-01-2011 07:03:58
What about putting a way to put it in to where you can set max latency for players joining like they did in nr2003 and heck no stay out of gwfl i know from experience first hand how hard it is to get help from them for when i had trouble with dirt2 these suggestions are for the pc version

+++Steam.

David Theisen @ 26-01-2011 11:44:46
this new flatout game is great, except WHAT ABOUT THE FRIGGIN PS3??? have u idiots lost ur mind??? its bad enough we have to wait a LONG time for a new Grid, but Flatout is the funnest most OUTRAGEOUS game i've ever played, and it is a COMPLETE travesty if this does NOT come out on ps3!
+++Spam our publisher and we'll do the PS3 version. And throw in 3 new spectacular gamemodes the PC and X360 version don't have. But without support of our publisher or investors, we can't do it.

ExxionNexxion @ 26-01-2011 04:31:32
Please DO NOT include GFWL in the new Flatout because that was what made UC so unpopular online PLEASE I BEG OF YOU do not put GFWL in FlatOut PC
+++Please beg one more time. On your knees now.
(it will be steam, not GFWL)

Matty BonkerZ @ 21-01-2011 12:24:51
Weeeeeee!!!!! I would really like to have the Sunray/RoadKing in the new Flatout PC, Those are my favourite cars! (i only ever use default cars)... Sunray just looks awesome! and RoadKing is just unbeatable! At full speed, it can crush someone! Cheesy
+++I hope you like our new cars. There are plenty of roadking like "crushers" there now.. in the "special" vehicle class (bus, truck, bulldozer, tank..) but also in the offroad class are some pretty heavy vehicles. And if you mean the GTR like Sunray.. we've got.. erm.. can't say it's based on a GTR, can I? But I'm sure you'll find this one car that is "slightly" inspired by the GTR Smiley (tunerclass, 2nd vehicle: the green one: check it's rear and you'll see the.. "inspiration")

Purple44 @ 20-01-2011 08:43:56
How does using GFWL maximize sales when GFWL block players from Turkey and other middle eastern countries from racing online? Also some of Team6 eastern Europe neighbors will be block from racing online too, even thou they paid for the game.
+++Don't mention our neighbours.

Purple44 @ 19-01-2011 21:21:49
When it come to online hosting, would be nice that we can give our host a name. Like "Clean racing only", "Bump to Pass custom cars ON", "derby only", "same as host racing". Give us at least 30 letters to describe our host. Also would be nice to see the PING of the host, so if PING is 250, I might want to look for a host that has a better PING to my computer of around a 100.
+++Very probably.

Purple44 @ 19-01-2011 21:00:31
Talking with a FOJ member, he would like to see user names register and password protected like we saw with GRID, so other players could not join a lobby with your online user name. With Flatout 2, you could have 4 Purple44 in a lobby. Someone could use your user name and then give you a bad rep online. Sad
+++Not probably. But still, using Steam you're pretty safe I think?

Heddly @ 13-01-2011 13:59:22
What I would like to see in FlatOut.Modding Tools such as the type that rFactor makes available. a)Higher poly cars for more detail if possible that can be edited with Zmodeler2.com by Oleg, which costs $60, much less the other modeling programs. He could make a filter for the new cars with your help. b)A Track Editor with ability to move objects, add new racing routes, such as Figure8 (a big favorite) Extra room to add user created content such as cars and tracks. 12 Players online
+++I'm afraid you'll be a bit dissapointed by the tools we'll be releasing: you have to learn 3dsmax. (or use a proper Max importer). OR just get your hands of some of the FlatOut maps and modify them in Max Smiley Moving objects is something everyone can do. Theoratically, with the tools we intend to provide you, you can build entire new gamemodes, cars, decals, entire maps, and even special effects like a meteorshower blowing the road apart. But this .. 'total freedom' kind of tools don't come easy. (except for only replacing checkpoints without altering the map: that's easy to do with game-editor)

Francois labaume @ 12-01-2011 13:46:45
New flatout is need by everyone, It is very fun game and is one of best. Alot of people wait for this, and maybe other gamers come to play new flatout if it alot good. We just want more destructive carnage!rnrnP.S. Sorry for English, I'm french.
+++More destruction OUI! OUI! (for non-french people: that's a big yes in french)
. We've got way more destruction derby modes by the way.

James G @ 12-01-2011 03:54:35

Here are my ideas: SDK for community modding Variety of Vehicles - Cars, Trucks, Bikes, Monster Trucks, etc Graphics - If you want it to be successful, it basically HAS to be as good of graphics as any other game coming out recently like Need for Speed. Same damage quality as past Flatout games (the vehicle damage is what made the series unique)rnrnLarge variety of tracksrnrnDrag Racing
+++Bikes were on our wishlist, the rest of it is there. Don't know what we'll do with bikes: perhaps put them in a DLC afterwards?

Purple44 @ 11-01-2011 21:28:36
Here my top 3 wishes: 1. 12 players online. 2. A king the hill derby pit, like on top of a volcano. 3. GRID derby figure 8 type racing tracks. With at least 2 to 3 crossing points. I have a Farcry 2 figure 8 track I been working on, guess I need to finish it and send it to the Team.
+++We've got a 8shaped uranium mine now, with a canyon/cliff. (not a volcano, but still.. ). I made it 2 days only, so i hope you like it Smiley It's called Mine28.

Rodman @ 09-01-2011 18:55:25
Yes, if anyone is listening out there, I too and a large regular group of Flatout racers who still love this game but are in need of a new version soon are hoping that some sort of announcement will come forth that a "newer" Flatout for P.C. will be developed.....pleas e, please....I will prepay(downpayment, whatever) for a proposed new Flatout nearing completion.
+++If you're Dennis Rodman, you might be able to afford it and if so, please send me an Email and I'll send you our bank details. We'll even put a car-basketball mode in for you then. Just trade in only one of your ferrari's, and you'll have a new FlatOut. If you're first name is not Dennis and thus it's 'just' Rodman: I'm afraid you can't afford it. Thanks for the offer though. (unless you have thousands of friends?)

Jamie Smyth @ 08-01-2011 20:52:12
Dear Sir, I would like to see a future PC continuation of the 'Flat Out' series of computer games. The 'Flat Out 2' game continues to stand as a leading example of the best driving simulations available, even 6 years after it's initial release. The popularity of the franchise continues to be strong amongst the gaming community, proving that the nature of this particular variety of driving simulation is especially popular.
+++Dear Sir, I agree there are loads of crap games on the market that promise to do the same (ultimate destruction) but are hardly worth the effort of playing. We try to keep as much as possible real physics and destruction in as possible.

Purple44 @ 08-01-2011 07:35:51
Great to see Flatout alive and on the Wii. Now pretty please, can you bring Flatout to the PC where the PC community been waiting forever ( since 2007 ) for a new Flatout 3.
+++As things look now, the official name will be FlatOut5. First, there was FlatOut. Then, FlatOut2. Then there was FlatOut2.5 called "Carnage", but we see this as a part3 anyways Smiley Then there was a fourth FlatOut, for Wii only. For some reason, the publisher named it just "FlatOut" again, but internally it was called FlatOut4. (since all content was new, the '4' was justified and i don't think it's similar to FlatOut 1 anyways). Therefore, this version is called number5. FlatOut5. (not Johnny number 5 or Fast 5, just: FlatOut Five)

I like to thank Team6 for taking the time to answer our many questions! From what I have read here and what I confrim today, 12 player races online, maybe more than 12 players in the derbys, Team6 is on a good path to making a good new Flatout game.

Was not expecting to see all this new stuff Team6 want to bring to a new Flatout5.
  Shocked

Note:  Unfortunately there not enough money to develop Flatout5 for all 3 platforms. Hopefully the PC and 360 versions will sell well so Team6 will have the money to do a PS3 version of Flatout5.

It will be Steam?

Where the hell did I leave my money?!?

On a serious note, I hope it won't be a 50 release tought.
Also, won't Steam make modding a bit harder? Modding Source games is easily done, I hope it will be the same case as Flatout5

Also, we should do some "mailing" around, it's a shame to see that this game is literally unknown

When Team6 said Steam instead of GFWL, I assume Steamworks. But I think I will go ask and see if there will be retail PC disk version or will new Flatout5 only be available on Steam.

But Team6 may not be able to give us an answer until they have sign a deal with a new publisher, since Zoo Games is out of the picture.

Repost of post at Team6 questbook:

@Nitronik  We should be able to work around any Steam install like we did with Flatout 2 ( make a second folder for modded version ) But Steamworks does add something new we will have to deal with. Duke Nukem Forever will be a good test of modding a Steamworks game. I will keep tabs on DNF and see how it goes with the modding.

"Also, we should do some "mailing" around, it's a shame to see that this game is literally unknown"   yes I agree...its been a long time since I was this anxious about a new release for P.C. We are still playing FO2 and FO2Comm. Mod weekly...some regular racers keep reminding me that we have been doing this for a long time, not sure if they are getting bored with it(I'm not)...I usually say something like well, it has sure proved to be an all out fun race game, more fun than any other and hey I'm not sure if there's any real race-based successors around...some have strayed to other games but it would appear to me that the novelty of new games that have been P.C.released is short lived at best. Here's to hoping that the new Flatout 5  will be everything we hoped it would be...even if it falls short only slightly it will still be embraced by me I'm sure. Fingers crossed!

I am retired and would love to be a free "helper" in anyway in the development of this game.

Here a link to some recent news about Team6, see if you can pick out the line about the new Flatout5: Wink

http://www.devmaster.net/news/index.php?storyid=2724

Also Heddly told me that Team6 web site is down. Did some checking and got this message when I use this url: http://www.team6-games.com/

Sorry, we are moving our servers.

I have not receive any new news about Flatout5, but it does sound like Team6 is still working on the new Flatout.

well I'll just keep hoping that its (Flatout 5) still a work in progress. I refuse to think otherwise.  Still getting my racing fix and finest entertainment value from this old game FO2,& FO2 Comm. Mod. Of course it helps immensely to have the good calibre of competitive racers who always manage to hook up at least weekly, usually saturday eve. A very big thanks to all who showed last nite. We had a full server all eve. and I sure had fun.

All I can say is that I always have a great time and LOL moments. Seems like there is always someone hosting the FOJ with the Carpack 3 AddonGrin

Did the devs go silent?

Or has anyone received any news from Team6?
