I'm going open this new thread for discussing Team6 new Flatout5. First off, I'm going repost the Team6 answers I posted in the
Want a new Flatout for the PC? If yes, then we need your help. thread.
Luckily, FlatOut PC/X360 is still on schedule.
**********************************************
Good news, I can confirm Flatout5 is still on schedule and we may see it release before the end of this year, 2011. If Team6 don't run into to many snags along the way.
We've got a reply from Team6 to everyone who posted a request on the
questbook, check it out here (
text is to long for one post ):
Reply on the QuestBook for FlatOut5 for PC (amongst other platforms)
Part 1:
lastday4u @ 23-05-2011 15:06:36 Also I would love to keep the old computers from Flatout2, I hate sofia the most because she is sooo fast with such slow cars! But I love the way Frank Malcov cannot drive in a straight line and how sally taylor cannot control her RoadKing.. xD
+++ We're programming different characteristics for each character in FlaTout5.
KSFR @ 22-05-2011 14:09:34 "I'd definitely like to see the drivers from FO2 and Ultimate Carnage return. No racing game has ever given me a true rival the way the FO series has. I love to hate Jack Benton" I would like that to
+++ We're not allowed to reuse the same names, so i hope you like the new ones

I guess we have to put some b*****s in too now.
Ram8113 @ 04-05-2011 19:47:55 . Honestly, I'd rather see an HD remake with maybe some more tracks than a full blown sequel that changes every aspect of the game.
+++ We can't use the old engine, so it's all new. Still, we try to do this with as much respect to FlatOut as the budget allows us.
Ram8113 @ 04-05-2011 19:47:16 +++ More destructionmaps, and we've taken a look at Eve. Never heared of it before. Trailer races.. is on our schedule (for years now), but FlatOut won't get it. Unless you can get enough votes to get it as DLC
Ram8113 @ 04-05-2011 19:46:39 More cars on screen:
+++ Done.
Editor: We'll release 'some' tools but we can't do something like farcry ..
FrankoManno @ 26-04-2011 06:56:19 Make a pc version that is 'moddable' - be able to import decals, paint the car etc. Flatout and Flatout 2 were great racing games, hope a new Flatout pc version would stay on the same road to what made them great games. And visit Flatout Joint, they made the game more than what it was.
+++ We'll release the original source of some of the cars and their textures so you can modify those. Probably we'll also deliver tools to import these new mods (model + texture) ingame. Not sure exactly how we will do this.
lastday4u @ 16-04-2011 19:36:13 You can do a in car view on Flatout2, I think you need the mod though..(visit flatoutjoint.com)
+++ Incar camera is possible, but you won't see interiors.
Alexman18 @ 11-04-2011 01:28:24 Make another flatout for wii with more race tracks and four player split screen capabilities.
+++ If you find a publisher / investor for this, we'll build it with pleasure.
Inspiral66 @ 10-04-2011 21:47:30 The prospect of another quality Flatout game for the PC loosens the straps on my wallet! Just make sure you release it on Steam!!
+++ Steam is our main target for the new PC version
Pl0xerdon @ 22-03-2011 13:08:44 what flatout needs,if it gets console version,is visual tuning. and track editor. or an awesome mode, kamikaze. the 12 racers(or whatever the amount is)get split up in 2-each half goes around the track,in another direction....but they will collide
+++ Shit, I wish you wrote this earlier. Or that I read this earlier. Kamikaze mode sounds like a good idea, but we can't do it right now anymore. If you've got some time left, please write down what the main goal of this is (points like destruction derby? or something more like that burnout "create expensive accidents and get a medal" mode?
lastday4u aka -ZebreHeaD- @ 14-03-2011 15:00:57 I had demolition racer on ps1, it was pretty cool, especially the demolition derby map, it was the shape of a bowl literally, and ou start on the tip of the bowl (with about 20 opponents), and then you go straight downs the bowl and into the middle madness! 500 points for landing on top of someone. I was thinking we could maybe have a buddy list in the game?
+++ We do have a hill, but it turned out i've should have made a bowl.. remind me to make the Hill public so you guys can modify it. And make it a bowl.
Buddy list: Steam has it automatically. There you go.
Lucky16 @ 12-03-2011 03:39:40 I've been a fan of the genre for many years, back to the DOS days of Whiplash(AKA Fatal Racing) and Destruction Derby. Whiplash had rising and falling track surfaces that gave all of the cars a real pounding. It was always fun to get "Death from Above" points in Demolition Racer as well. Thanks for making a new Flatout game. I want one.
+++ Death from above will now probably become an achievement.
lastday4u aka -ZebraheaD- @ 08-03-2011 14:23:16 Is there any projected release month or year for a new flatout on PC?
+++ If i'll take a guess, at the beginning of the holiday 2011
Kamikave @ 05-03-2011 23:25:51 Ah... I dream of a new Flatout on PC. And if you're looking for new game modes, how about resurrecting the old "wrecking racing" mode from Destruction Derby, where you had to score points by making the others cars spin ?
+++ We've taken efforts to make loads more destruction derby arenas, but the spin thing is new to me? Is it some kind of mutator?
lastday4u aka -ZebraHeaD- @ 01-03-2011 14:46:14 I was thinking a protect the hero mode? Whatever you want to call it. The idea was that there are 2 teams, and each team needs to protect their leader, as the leaders race (to finish the race), the opposite teams must stop them, but of course there is the hazard of hitting your own leader. Or it could just be that 6 cars race one way, 6 cars race the other way, and whoever reaches the finish line 1st (right or wrong way) wins. (Or it could be 3 of each team racing one way to make it more fun).
+++ We've had something similar in an old taxi game of ours (SuperTaxiDriver2006) and it turned out to be real fun. We'll try implementing something like this in the Monstertruck missions. (protect the leader)
why not have it for ps3 and xbox 360. having it on the wii must stink but its new and diffrent but you won't be as fast or destructive. i tried racing on it with mario cart and it sucked i am a huge fan of flatout 1, 2, and ultimate carnage but i will not buy it if its on the wii
+++ Well, luckily for you the Wii version is hardly available..
The Revvenge @ 11-02-2011 20:50:18 It's quite possible to dodge and hide from Trucks in a Chili, as there are places that are much harder (but not impossible) to reach with a Truck, and if you throw your steer and brake, a Truck might just soar past instead of hitting you. On the other hand Trucks can work together to hit Chilis anyway, or have one going in the other direction, so he can hit the Chilis head-on while they are watching their backs.
+++ We've got something like a Chili and we got bulldozers and busses. And we've got places you can get stuck in. Enjoy!
The Revvenge @ 11-02-2011 20:48:54 The Truck is not to race the Chilis, but to try and destroy them. The Chilis try to dodge and hide, but also try not to be in last place (of the Chilis that is, as the Truck doesn't count), so they have to race as well. Whichever Chili finishes last in that race, or is first to be destroyed, will take a Truck as well in the next race, meaning there are two Trucks hunting Chilis.
+++ Unlock the Tank in FlatOut5 and hunt down as many chili-look-a-likes as you want. You'll go slow though.. For FlatOut5, we've got plenty of classes that make the most of this strategy: you've got the heavy slow cars, but also the very fast but fragile sportscars (even formula one cars..) and everything inbetween. Let's hope you enjoy what we've tried to do here..
The Revvenge @ 11-02-2011 20:46:40 Something I really felt was missing, was to change the appearance of your car. There were 5 standard paintschemes, all basically the same design but with different colours. The choice of more colours or even a few different designs would be really cool, in my opinion.
+++ Due to X360 disc limitations (8gb or something) we have problems adding more than 5-7 colors for each car. We had more for some cars, but were forced to delete them. (every colour scheme also has specular maps, and 3 damagetextures: mb's go pretty fast by then..). Still, our cars have more differences: Different paintings, decals, and more colours for everyone!
The Revvenge @ 11-02-2011 20:46:17 The above is things I'd really like to see back. Things I hope won't be added are, as I mentioned before, power-ups or constant high-speed wall-grinding.rnrnAs for additions or changes to the game, well I've got a few ideas there too.
+++ We'll get rid of the healthpackages in destructionderby (we had those in the Wii version) and the high-speed wallgrinding is something we'll try to avoid. (in the current versions the cars even drive up the wall.. but this is work in progress:) )
The Revvenge @ 11-02-2011 20:45:56 Another good thing, I felt, was the fact there were 11 opponents in the offline modes with their own names. To me, at least, it seemed they also had their own styles. Sofia Martinez, for instance, really seemed to try and race fair, not touching you unless you drove into her. Frank Malcov drove like a madman, sometimes at the front, but often at the back, spun out.
+++ See top of list (will be done)
The Revvenge @ 11-02-2011 20:45:28 I was never big on the derbies or the stunts, though I enjoyed how the stunts, too, showed you needed to learn to master them too. Figuring out where to launch, what angle to use and when to nudge all took some time and felt wonderful when you finally managed to get gold in Carnage Mode.
+++ Sorry, you have to figure them out yourselves now. No more help / showing how it's done..
The Revvenge @ 11-02-2011 20:44:58 I also felt it was really good to have an arcade racing game like this not have power-ups in races, or having you grind every single wall in order to get around the track. Sure, there were a few guard-rails here and there, but FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage was really also a game where you needed to use brakes.
+++ That's why we made those arrows in FlatOut5 hurt so much. No guard-rails (except in the 'speed' gamemode).
The Revvenge @ 11-02-2011 20:44:30 What worked really well in FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage were the different routes through the various tracks. You could decide to take a jump or go through some tires or other stuff that gave you nitro, but you could also avoid them to maintain speed. Finding out what was the best way to get around the track was really fun and gave you an edge, once you found it, in online racing.
+++ We tried.
The Revvenge @ 11-02-2011 20:44:02 Anyway, since I liked FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage so much, I thought I'd give my two cents on what I would like to see in a new FlatOut. First of all, I would definately want to see it come to either Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 or the PC, simply because I don't have a Wii (I know, how selfish).
+++ For that 2 cents, you get an X360 and PC version. Not the PS3 version. You need 3 cents for that.
The Revvenge @ 11-02-2011 20:42:39 I've just tried to post something here, but apparently there's a character limit, so I'll split it up into multiple posts:
+++ Was thinking you're the only one posting, with all those posts.. perhaps you should write a book. Or a design paper. And send it to our publisher
DJM0128 @ 08-02-2011 22:40:39 Copy Flatout 1 derby cars, with flatout 2 normal cars, add some dirt forest tracks and mayhem. can't go wrong.
+++ You'll be amazed..
