I use XML Notepad to edit my XML files. There are other programs you can use also. In my example I use flatout3/Vehicles/FlatOutCar01. Open the Skins.XML. I copied the last Skin folder and copied it to the clip board. Next I click on the root folder and paste the new Skin listing. After opening the new Skin folder You want to cahge the Name and TextureAdd to the new skin number/name. Good Luck and hope to see come cool skins.

refer to FlatOut3 skinning document v1.0 ======================================== Typical naming convention for the SECOND (and further) skins: ACar_C2.tga ordinary texture then convert to .DCT ========================================= Setting number of skins The number of skins for a car is listed in the skins.xml file in the vehicles folder. Example, your new CarA has 7 skins. Go to the Game/vehicles/CarA folder and open the skins.xml with any texteditor. Here you can set the number of skins so the game knows what to do. ========================================== Rename your textures to end with _C# so the game can find it. In this case it would be _C7

Ronnie is probably busy. Heddly seems to know what he's doing, so why not ask him?

I can't really help without seeing your files. Do you have all of the skin names with the same name_c#.DCT? I will have a look if you send them to me. Try putting them into the Textures/Cars folder and try it.

Please try not to upload WIP files on FOJ, instead upload them somewhere else on the web and link to them.
FOJ is low on bandwith every month, so let's try not to make things worse.
Thanks.

They say a picture is worth... Do you see that I have all of the textures mentioned in the readme about painting FO3 cars. You have only 2. Look at my Cars.XML file. I added the new skin to the end of the list. You need all of them and use the same naming structure. Adding a CarA folder to the vehicle folder will not work. You have to use the folder of the car number you are skinning. ACar_C2.tga etc. was just an example name for the real car folders. Textures\Cars is the correct folder.I hope you are keeping backup copies or you game files that you are modding. You need too. Your DCH_DM_C7_s.DCT should be the same size as the DCH_DM_C7.DCT. The _D2 and _D3 are the damage skins and are also the same size. The DCHi is for Interior, DCHw is the wheels. I still need to add my D2_S and D3_S DCT files myself. I am still a Rookie at this skinning format myself, so I don't have all of the answers.

What program are you using to edit the .PSD files? The damage layers are in the file. Just enable one,I used D3 in the pic. save your skin and name it DCH_DM_D3_C7.TGA and convert to .DCT Disable D3 in the PSD and enable D2 and save and convert to DCH_DM_D2_C7.DCT. Does that sound easier?
