Looks like Flatout with guns for me, especially with the fact that there'll be a career mode.

25-Jan-2012

Evolve PR proudly welcomes Gamepires to its client roster, as the Croatian developer readies Gas Guzzlers Combat Carnage for release in March. New screenshots of this balls-to-the-wall combat racing game can be seen here. The screens show off the game’s great visuals and will whet your appetite for destruction.

Gas Guzzlers Combat Carnage puts players in the driving seat of a metal vessel of mayhem, blasting the crap out of anyone that gets in their way as they race around more than 150 miles of track. The game features both single and multiplayer modes, and will be released for PC via digital distributors and retail network. Pricing will be announced soon.

Seem this racer will get release this month.

We definitely support the modding community. This is one reason why the PC platform is still the number one gaming platform. The ability to create and play mods is the reason that some gamers will never give up using a PC as a gaming platform. Modding the game extends its life-span, attracts new users and in some way, gives the developers a direction the project might develop that is in the interests of the gamers. In the future, we will put our efforts into developing better tools that can enable easy modding.
Ha! They're in the right way.

I posted at Gamepires facebook page:

Chuck Purplefortyfour
Hi, Gas Guzzlers Combat Carnage just got posted at flatoutjoint.com today, so I had to check out some videos and learn more about your new racer. You got me interested, but have to warn ya, a lot PC players leery of PC racing games today. T...he last couple of years have not been good for PC racing.____Blur had 20 players online, but was a console port that had no support for a wheel, only supported 360 pad and no text chat online. GRRRR_____TDU2 had a PC beta test, but still was release very buggy and then Atari cut Eden staff by 2/3 so hardly any one left to fix the bugs and release the bike DLC that was promise.____And just recently Flatout 3 got release as a beta with a broken online multiplayer. Flatout 3 is about dead after 2 months.____ Since this look to be your first racing gaming getting release on the PC, suggest you give the Steam Flatout forum a read to see how bad Team6 and publisher Strategy First doom Flatout 3 from the start. __http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=254____From what I have seen, you guys are off to a better start than FO3. I do hope you will release a demo at release date or soon after. Got 2 questions for ya, will Gas Guzzlers Combat Carnage support wheels like the DFGT and G25-27? And how many players will be able to race online? I hope it at least 12 players.

***********************************************

And I got this response from Gamepires today:

Gamepires
Hi Chuck, thanks for the info. We are glad that you're interested in our game. In next week we are planning to release public demo (beta version) free for download. We are all big fans of Flatout (1,2 and UC) and we have played it extensive...ly in the past. If you download the demo you will surely find lot of similarities with FO serial but you will find out that weapons on vehicles can spice up things too Smiley So now you can race, crash and shoot/destroy other vehicles. This game is a crossbreed between death rally (career advancement and DM arenas), FO (handling, destruction, etc) and NFS (visuals). Hopefully that is enough to keep you interested in future. Smiley

Gamepires
We are planning to support DFGT, G25 and G27. We are still in the process of testing MP capabilities of the game so I cannot provide you with exact number of players.

***************************************************

It nice that Gamepires going to release a beta demo for us to tryout. Smiley

Hmmm....as long as the handling/damage really is like FO, that may be good enough to get me back into modding (if I can get enough time to get back into doing that of course lol)

99 euro seem a little steep in price!!

99 Euros is equivalent to 131 United States dollars    Shocked Shocked

Google translate is wrong; that's not Euros (€), but Kuna (kn) - which is Croatia currency...

as of today (10 march 2012)
1kn = 0.13293€ (here), so 99kn = 13.16€ and 129kn = 17.15€
1kn = 0.17431$ (here), so 99kn = 17.26$ and 129kn = 22.49$

which I found very low...

(I also jumped on my seat when I saw the 99€ price... there's no way anyone can sell a game that high)

I'm firing up my gaming computer right now, so I can download this beta demo. Will be installing demo under Vista 64bit.

Edit: Averaging 1.5-1.7 MB/sec download speed from fileplanet, good download speed for me. Smiley  ( paying for a 15Mb download speed from Charter cable.

If you are using a wheel and still have "combine pedals" because you been playing Flatout 3, Blur or FUEL, need to uncheck this before setting up your wheel in controller menu.

Also got to steer hard right and left for controller menu to pickup your wheel.

Watch out for chicken in car menu! We having chicken for dinner tonight?

I did not install June 2010 directx since I update my Vista to service pack 2 and install directx11 update. So I could install and run NFS: The Run last year.

I also got an error message when game tried to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010. Error window said I had newer version. I close window down and was still able to start Gas Guzzlers: Combat Carnage.

Game work under Vista 64bit, but getting poor FPS when on the track with a 6870 ATI video card, even after turning all graphic settings down. Lowest screen resolution game will let me have is 1280x720.

Here link to Gamepires beta forum where you can post how the beta demo working for you:

http://forum.gamepires.com/yaf_topics25_Public-Beta-Discussion.aspx

I'm thinking of uninstalling Gas Guzzlers: Combat Carnage and see how it does under XP.

I just tried it... and I can't say I'm very impressed.

As you said Purple, it's power hungry (I let all graphic options to default - which is high or ultra on my system, and except blur which I turned off: low 30fps with a i7 920 and a GTX570 running at 99%)...

I made 2 races, one with each car on each circuit, and I must admit I was boring myself, there's no speed sensation... the opponents get away at start, and I was just alone making laps on an empty tracks (the others being 1/2 or 1 lap ahead at end of race)... it seems there is a balance problem here...

Another thing is the poor physic, cars acts strange, I tried to push and make another car slide: no way...
