Game work under Vista 64bit, but getting poor FPS when on the track with a 6870 ATI video card, even after turning all graphic settings down. Lowest screen resolution game will let me have is 1280x720.

Here link to Gamepires beta forum where you can post how the beta demo working for you:

http://forum.gamepires.com/yaf_topics25_Public-Beta-Discussion.aspx

I'm thinking of uninstalling Gas Guzzlers: Combat Carnage and see how it does under XP.
===========================================
I'm running Win 7 32 bit system, I tested the game on my PC, Quad Core i7  K 875 @ 2.94 GHz with 2 GB usable memory and  an ATI Radeon 5850 @ 1GB memory.
The game graphic settings were all on high or ultra. Fraps recorded at a steady 30 FPS. Gas Guzzlers Beta 1. The graphics look good to my 50+ year old eyes.  Smiley

An odd thing happened during installation. It seemed to have a problem with Windows C++ 2010 and gave an option to Repair or Remove the program. I chose Repair.

I also had problems with the Sound Volume Control. It would increase in volume but I couldn't decrease the volume level.

The car I tested handled worse than the FO3 cars steering.

I am happy that a beta was released so they can compare user's feedback to help narrow down the problem areas.

Hello!

I'm developer at Gamepires and I would like to thank you for trying out Gas Guzzlers public beta. Your feedback is highly appreciated!

Regarding the performance issues, the game is not very well tested on XP and Vista. Is there any chance you can try the game on Windows 7?

Regarding the car handling, can you please share in a more details on what you find unsatisfactory?

Thank you!

You can share any further feedback on official forum:

http://forum.gamepires.com/

With kind regards,

Great. My laptop cries while playing this. Only 2-5 FPS during racing. Everything is set at low/off.

Superb gameplay BTW, second best demo I've played after Enemy Territory Quake Wars demo.

Eh? I don't think the car handling is that bad (except for the Fiat, I think), but it's still quite difficult to handle in higher speed.

Also, you need to be quick at fragging the others. Once you enter the fire zone, shoot everybody near you like crazy (I've finihed 4th in the desert track using the Fiat, if I could waste the last car that only has about 15% HP remains).

And don't afraid to post your suggestions here, etc

Clicking on link above, I found a release date for Gas Guzzlers:

The guys over at Gamepires sent this exclusive info through along with the release date, that up until now was unknown. Gas Guzzlers Combat Carnage release date is 25 April 2012 and available via digital distribution services like Origin.

*********************************************************

Good thing release date in April, Gas Guzzlers would of had hard time competing against Ridge Racer unbounded this month.

Release date push back 10 days, to May 5:

http://www.gamefly.com/Download-Gas-Guzzlers---Combat-Carnage/5003885/

Info on multiplayer is still scarce. Did get this facebook reply:

Chuck Purplefortyfour - Can you give us any news on multiplayer\online racing?

Gamepires - we are testing MP and best results we get are with 6-8 players in the race. playing with more than 8 players can sometimes be too chaotic on narrow tracks.

I also ask this question last Monday, no reply yet:

Chuck Purplefortyfour - Is there going to be any derby pits or capture the flag modes? or will it just be racing tracks online?

Gas Guzzlers: Combat Carnage has been release. You can buy game here:

http://store.origin.com/store/ea/en_US/pd/productID.249471200?easid=Origin-GasGuzzlers_Web_Tier2_BuyNow

Also can download game at Gamefly, Impulse or Cenega.

Gamepires says they been trying the last 4 months to get Gas Guzzlers on Steam, but it hasn't happen yet.

http://forum.gamepires.com/yaf_postst48_Steam-release.aspx

"We are working on that to come to Steam. It's very hard for small team to get there.
But we will not give up. "

No derby pits, but maybe in the future:

Chuck Purplefortyfour - Is there going to be any derby pits or capture the flag modes? or will it just be racing tracks online?

Gamepires - Derby pits will not be supported. We just have not had time to implement them. The first version will support only racing tracks. But we will continue to update the game through patches. It should not be a problem to add the derby arenas through the patch.

Here some info about Gas Guzzlers:

http://forum.gamepires.com/yaf_postst23_Great-Game-Just-A-Couple-Of-Questions.aspx

Hi Tommi,
we have 12 cars divided in 3 classes. Each car is unique and handles in different manner. Each subsequent car is also slightly faster than the previous one and can be customized with more upgrades. GG has similar concept as for example Death Rally. You will have to earn money and buy yourself faster car (eventually invest in upgrades too) to win in the cup. If you have more skill you can win even with the slower car. This counts for SP only, in MP all cars have exact acceleration and deceleration (but they still behave slightly different in turns because of different gear ratio, weight and wheels distance).
As for liveries, we have 10 stickers per vehicle (player unlocks them during the game), each sticker can be colorized (in the same way as you colorize body of the car for example), so you have so many combinations to choose from. Along with sticker you can change and colorize rims (19) and your license plate too. There are 13 different weapons that you can mount on your vehicle.
We have 32 tracks divided in 6 different settings.
We are planning to add more cars and tracks for the MP in DLC.

And something about the game itself. Game is divided in three cups (one for each class of vehicles). To advance to next cup you will have to win in the tournament (win in three consecutive races without the option of going back to the garage and car repairs or modifications). For entering the tournament you'll have to pay entrance fee and if you win you get free car from the upper class.
There are three types of events that can be played in each turn. After each race player can earn points and money. With points you can advance up on the ranks and with money you fix/upgrade your car (customization is free).
Classic race - it's the race without the weapons, risks are small but so are the rewards. For first place player gets 3 points, 2nd - 2 point, 3rd 1 point. This type of event is good for a practice, if you don't know the race track well. You can still damage your car on landmines or by crashing into something.
Battle race -is a common race with guns, money rewards are bigger and points are distirbuted in the same way as in Classic race

Knockout race - same as battle but after each lap the worst player is destroyed. Here are the biggest risks so you get more money, but points are only given for the first place (2 points).

Players who don't finish the race (end up being destroyed) don't get money neither the points. It's up to you to choose your tactics. You can finish the game by playing Classic race all the time if you want to do so. Good thing to do is to kill opponets durign the race because they will get no point and you'll will be start to move up the ranks more quickly.

For collecting items, destroying things you receive additional nitro boosts and/or money bonus rewards.

I can't get the controller options to change settings in the game for my wheel. I have the pedals combined right now. Any ideas?  Huh?
