Hi, lets do your second question first, if you get our FOJ community mod for Flatout 2 ( be sure to download all five parts and use De Stan's mod manager that come with part 5 ).
http://www.moddb.com/mods/foj-community-mod/downloadsThere an option in community mod to set the number of AI. Can't set AI to 0, but can set AI to 1. Here the readme:
Flatout 2 Single Race Options Mod (updated version)
This mod lets you change some options when playing the "Single Race",
"Single Event" and "Single Derby" modes.
Currently these options include in Race mode:
-Game mode (Race/Derby/Test)
-Lap count
-Car upgrades
-Player damage
-Visual damage
-Ragdoll ON/OFF
-Nitro ON/OFF
-AI player count (1-7)
-AI handicap level
-AI upgrades
-AI car class
-AI car selection
and in Derby mode:
-Game mode (Wrecking/Last Man Standing/Frag/Hunter,Prey)
-Inactivity timer
-Car upgrades
-Player damage
-Visual damage
-Ragdoll ON/OFF
-AI player count (1-7)
-AI handicap level
-AI upgrades
-AI car class
-AI car selection
-AI "target player" level
You can enter the options menu by pressing 'Del' key after selecting the track.********************************************************
Now adding skins can be a little tougher. Lets start with this download-able skin:
Car-29 Bullet GT skin-1 BLOODYIf download and unzip this skin file, you will see two skin files:
skin1.dds
skin1_damaged.dds
These are what we call unpack Flatout files and will only work in an unpack Flatout 2 that has a \data folder with all the FO2 files unpack.
Since you have bought your Flatout 2, its files should be packup into bfs files and use the filesystem file and patch file to load the bfs files.
My filesystem file:
fo2a.bfs stock ( fo2b.bfs is just video files, don't have to load this bfs file )
fo2c.bfs stock
fo2camsfinal.bfs ( the rest of these bfs are modded, like skin bfs files )
car21_Crusader.bfs
MixerTruck.bfs
megaskinpack.bfs
megaskinpackfinalpart2.bfs
megaskinpackfinalpart3.bfs
aiskinpack.bfsMy stock patch file:
patch1.bfsSo you will not be able to load the BLOODY GT skin unless you unpack your Flatout 2 game or you take the 2 skins files, put them in the right folder structure and then pack these two files into a new bfs file.
data\cars\car_29\skin1.dds
data\cars\car_29\skin1_damaged.ddsWe use
bfs2pack by Karok/GulBroz, release 1.5 program to unpack and pack up Flatout 2 files. Use the GUI version, then just drop a bfs file on Bugbear face to unpack bfs files ( pay atention to where you are unpacking files to, you can change the folder ) or drag the \data folder to Bugbear face and program will pack all the files in the \data folder into a new bfs file.
After you have made a new bfs file and put new file in your Flatout 2 folder, you will need to add the name of new bfs file either to the filesystem ( if changing the skins of stock FO2 cars ) or add it to the patch file ( if changing a skin of a loaded custom car ).
New filesystem file:
fo2a.bfs
fo2b.bfs
fo2c.bfs
Car-29-Bullet-GT-skin-1-BLOODY.bfsNew bfs file is attach to my post below. Unpack it to see how I did the \data folder. The rest of the custom skins you will need to learn how to packup.

Also be aware that if a skin does not have a menu skin too, you will still see the stock skin when selecting a car. Your new custom skin will only show up when you see the car on the start line.
One other issue you may run into, what happens if you download two #1 skins for the same car? If you want to use both skins, then need to rename one of the #1 skins to skin #2 ( or skin3, skin4, skin5 ):
skin1.dds > rename skin2.dds
skin1_damaged.dds > rename skin2_damaged.dds
This is where the packer\unpacker program come in handy, if got 2 skin bfs files that are both skin1, just unpack one of the skin bfs files and rename skin1, to skin2.dds, skin2_damaged.dds and then repack the files.
