Here the first hands on article about GRID 2:

Grid 2 Preview: No Assists Please, We're British

It's now taking a second stab with Grid 2, due in summer 2013 for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. Despite the long gap, it's an unapologetic sequel with a very similar style: race-tuned road cars in fake racing liveries going at it wheel-to-wheel on city streets and racing circuits, all shot in a smoky, cinematic style. In pure gameplay terms, the only major change - or at least, the only one Codemasters is currently willing to discuss - is the addition of high-speed point-to-point races on the open road. But perhaps it's an omission that's more interesting.

So it look like GRID 2 is going to be release on the 360 and PS3. So why wait this long to release a new GRID? I thought the reason might be that Codies was waiting to release GRID 2 on the next gen consoles.

But maybe Codemasters plan is to release GRID 2 on the old consoles next summer, then release next gen version of GRID 2 when the new consoles are in the stores? Can the 360 and PS3 handle the new graphics of GRID 2 or will there be some lag?

No mention yet if derby racing and drift racing are still in GRID 2.

Got this link from Ryder:

For a game so revered by its fans - as well as its creators - why has the wait for the sequel to GRID been so long? Codemasters explains that it's been waiting for the technology to catch up with its lofty ambitions, and three F1 and three DiRT games later - an entire console generation's worth of cutting-edge racers - the studio finally felt confident enough to fire up a sequel worthy of the original.

As the studio discusses the philosophical directions it's taking on GRID 2 - mostly that it's focused purely on on-track drama rather than playing the numbers game of reeling off cars and tracks - the most tangible improvements and additions, at least from this early first look, are under-the-bonnet.

Sound like we are in for some more EYE CANDY from GRID:

And while it was running on a souped-up PC rather than current generation hardware, we'd say it's probably the best looking racer we've ever seen. These new elements are all seemingly subtle, and there are tangible improvements when you take to the track.

Time for a new video card next summer, my 5870 may not be enough to max the graphic settings.  Tongue

Codemasters has raise such a big stink over dropping in-car view with GRID 2, that a dev had to post a response to all the mad GRIDers in the GRID 2 forum:

With regards to cockpit view, a statement from Executive Producer Clive Moody
