I've put a lot of thought into this, so here goes.

Anyway I want a game that is based solely on realistic demolition derbying. I'm talking everything. For instance, there would be no "nitrous" button. However, a "Pin it" button that allows you to rev your engine higher at the expense of your motor heating up faster would be     awesome. Another thing it should include is transmission temps. Those things don't last forever if you're shifting between reverse and your forward gear at high rpms.

It would include realistic damage. If you hit someone in the trunk when it's fresh, it's not going to damage their car mechanically, but as the trunk gets pushed in you start hitting the rear end causing axles to snap. If you hit someone from the side in the axles it can cause axles to snap and front tires to break a-arm causing the tire to fall sideways and drag. When you hit someone in the doors it does nearly 0 damage mechanically. The physics would be more like flatout rather than like dirt showdown. Was unimpressed with the physics of SD by the way. If 1 car is going 40 mph and hits a car going 0. Both cars will slide, they won't both immediately stop.

There would be real cars that people actually use to derby. Not muscle cars and tuner cars that have weak frames and bodies. There would be cars like '65-75 Chrysler Imperials, and other big boats. 74-78 Mopar shockers, 65-75 newports, new yorkers. 60s to 70s chevy, chrysler, and ford station wagons and sedans. There would be real motors and transmissions that you can put in your cars and upgrade them to make them more powerful. From small blocks to big blocks, of all makes. Transmissions that require less horsepower, to beefier, stronger ones that require more HP.

You would be able to customize your car completely. Everything from the stacks (headers) coming out the hood to the paint, roof signs, number, car color, decals, rims.

You would be able to modify the things done to the car. You could weld plates and make the cars tougher by bracing the frames and adding metal to make the cars stronger. You could modify the trunk by pressing it down in the middle to make it stronger. There'd be an option to notch the frame in the back of the car to make it fold the way you want so that it would bunch up into a nice, hard ball. You could purchase slider shafts in place of normal drive shafts to make the drive shaft not fall out when the car begins to bend in a way that extends the shaft.

Another thing that would be added is 16 player derbies and lobbies. There would be multiple classes of cars. Full size stock cars, to full size modified cars. Full size trucks and compact trucks. An 80s and newer class as well as a 79 and older class. There would be no 4wd allowed and trucks wouldn't run with cars in a derby. Compacts wouldn't run with full size cars. There would be realistic derby events where qualifying heats and consolation rounds would select the best cars for the feature event. There would be a points system like in flatout to determine the winner. smaller hits  award 1 points to BIG HITS awarding 5 points. The last 5 cars running would get bonus points for being the last cars alive. Something like 25 for last alive to 5 for 5th. An award would be given after each event called the crowd pleaser award. This would be given to the driver who made the hardest hit, or was the most entertaning to watch. It may be decided through voting after watching a few short clips in the lobby of a few selections, or by the computer.

There would be a co-op mode so that you could hook up with buddies and play with bots online. There would also be an ONLINE career mode. You pay to buy things and you win money at each event. There would be an online ranking system so that players can look at players in lobby to see how many games they've won, or a points system that shows their level of prestige.

There would be a hit timer rather than a contact timer. You would actually have to deliver a hit to stay in rather than get touched by another car to stay in. Would be like a 1-1:30 minute timer. If your car doesn't start in that time or you get stuck on a wall and no one helps you you would be out. The derbies would take place in realistic derby arenas. Small muddy county fair tracks to big stadium tracks. Most would be square or rectangular, not circle shaped.

The car would handle in mud like you would expect it to handle. It would be hard to control as the back tires would be spinning most of the time, but in order to correct this you would have to feather the throttle and counter steer. Cars with different motors and headers would sound unique based on the size of the headers and engine upgrades.

The HUD would include a digital speed readout, an rpm gauge, an engine and transmission temp gauge. A car damage model showing the different points on the car that are in the worst/best condition based on changing colors.

The physical damage on the car would look realistic. There would be dents, folds, tears in sheet metal, realistic accumulating steam and smoke from engines. Fenders, hoods, trunk lids and doors generally don't fall off. They are welded or chained shut preventing this from happening. There would be mud flinging and the cars would get some mud on them. The tracks would have different texture. There would be sandy tracks and clay tracks. There would be really wet tracks and dry tracks.

Drivers door disqualifications may be implemented... but it should probably be an option as some people wouldn't like this feature.

As far as scenes/clips are concerned, there would be a "pit view" option where you can look at cars that have been brought by other people before and after the derby. If you are spectating a derby or are waiting for a heat to finish before your heat starts you could look at cars in the pits or spectate the derby from different views. Before a heat starts you could watch the cars enter the arena and line up on opposite sides. There would be side judges standing on the banks to "referee" the derby. Following the derby tractors and trucks would come in to pull the cars out of the arena. And at the very end a highlight reel would be shown to watch big hits and the battle between the last placing cars. (The ones that get money) All derbies could be posted to youtube without having to run a recording program. It would be a built in option following derbies. You could save replays and screenshots. There would be a chat system where you would type to other players in the lobby, but those racing wouldn't see so that it wouldn't be a distraction. Some cars would be outlawed from certain derbies to keep it fair. A Chrysler Imperial wouldn't run in most stock derbies because they are too strong.

This would be the ideal game for me. I can think of nothing better. Besides the things I've mentioned in here. The only other thing that I would change about this game is that the derby tracks would be much smaller than those in flatout. You don't need to go 140mph to do damage to a car.

Derbying is awesome until you start putting things that are larger than the canyon, or faster than the road king into it. (Aside from school buses of course) =D

Yes, it's lengthy, but it is worth checking out. I can daydream up all sorts of stupid crap.

Added my profile pic for something to look at while you read Smiley

Sound like you have done a real derby or two reading your post. I got to do a derby a couple of decades ago here at the 4th July derby at the Yakima Speedway. Smiley

My nephew the one on the roof of car.

"Ernest" lasted to about when 2/3 of the cars were wreck before car stop moving. My brother's car was not as tough, he broke a tie rod after hitting a cement barrier on a turn in the time trial lap for the bump to pass racing before the derby.

Unfortunately, "Ernest" did not win the ugliest car contest. Sad

Oh wow. Unfortunately, I have not derbied yet, but I am going to pick up either a 74-78 Mopar shocker, or an 03 or newer vic and put my dad's 383 derby motor in it. He's not derbied for quite a while. I have helped put together a few trucks and cars though. My buddy took 5th out of a 25 car heat yesterday night because he lost reverse. Still had a lot of front end left in it. Was a shame. If I'm not mistaken, that's a chev wagon you ran?

Nice, I'll upload some pics from my dad's photo album. He's got some pretty good ones. Where the trunk and the front of the car are sky high over the roof haha
