Bug???

I heard that the Windows look bad, very bad. because i tweaked them , but the result you are getting is way much better then original, in short it makes it playable in First Person for the cars that needed it.

oh yee, i forgot , try changing the extension from zip to 7z

originaly i packed it with 7zip but i couldn't upload this on foj.

And another thing you need to play flatout unpacked.

i tried packing it into a bfs but i couldn't get it work.

My game kept crashing so i unpacked everything and deleted filesystem , and voila it works. and it's much easier to adjust settings this way.

That's cool, so I have a question. If you look back, is it the bumper view or is it still in the car?

Derbying is awesome until you start putting things that are larger than the canyon, or faster than the road king into it. (Aside from school buses of course) =D

It doesn't work when packing it so that's why you need to play the game unpacked.

just use the bfs unpacker and unpack the whole data.bfs and Streamed.bfs in that order. That is located into your flatout directory and unpack it in your flatout directory,

After unpacking you will have a map called data with the data.bfs and Streamed.bfs unpacked within it.
then copy the content of this mod into your flatout directory ,
and overide everything.

Then delete filesystem or just copy it someplace else ,  ,

oh and the two still packed files , that you unpacked explained above, you can delete those too. (Data.bfs & Streamed.bfs).

After that you should be ready to go.
Otherwise reply back.

I already have a data folder in fouc archive that has the videos and music, but nothing else. And your instructions were really confusing. Why doesn't the mod just work packed as bfs? It should.

I tried with packed game first but there is something wrong with repacking i guess ,because each file i pack with bfs , can't be unpacked again. And the game keeps crashing when using that packed file.

I know it might sound confusing so i will give it another shot.

Step 1 : Open BFS3pack_smart_gui and drag the Data.bfs located in your Flatout directory to bfs3pack_smart_gui.

Step 2 : select your flatout directory as location for unpacking. (this will take a while) (about 6gigs)

Step 3 : Do exactly the same for streamed.bfs

Step 4 : Now you should have more folders within the data folder where previous only videos and music where present.
See pic.

Step 5 : Now you can extract this mod to flatout directory.

Step 6 : Delete or backup Filesystem. (but remove it from flatout directory)

I hope you understand now , it's really not that difficult.

I see you are using the right packer for UC. So what error are you getting when running the pack bfs? Is it "error 38"

If so, you might try adding a filler file. I attach filler file use with Flatout 1 at bottom of my post. Click on filler.jpg to download file.

Found this searching forums for "filler file":

That should be no problem, the original skin is still in the original .bfs... that's the magic of .bfs files Wink

hmm, if there is only one skin in your .bfs, it must be very small... it remembers me something; I think there is a problem with small .bfs files and I'm sure modders were adding filler files just to increase .bfs size in some cases...
You should try to add a dummy file (a text file of some KB, 5KB should be fine) in your .bfs, just to test...
