Here the shocker about the release of GRID 2, no online derby racing in GRID 2!!!! Can you believe Codemasters would let us down like this after screwing up figure 8 racing in DIRT Showdown? GGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Please post your protest of Codemasters dropping GRID derby racing form GRID 2 in this thread I started over at Codemasters GRID 2 forum:

Can you believe it, no online derby racing in GRID 2!!!!

Oh Whale. No 12 player derby at all? I don't get my hopes up anymore.

Just like Ridge Racer Unbounded without Steering Wheel Support. How Fishing dung can the BassTurds be? I Sturgeontly will not buy their Croppy game...I'm tired of this Carp. Sounds Fishy to me.

Doesn't that stink!!!    Angry    Grin

Yeah, there needs to be some demolition derby games with 12 or better yet 16 player lobbies. 16 people wrecking cars. OMG something in my pants exploded. OH god, it smells awful. That's not what I expected at all.

Derbying is awesome until you start putting things that are larger than the canyon, or faster than the road king into it. (Aside from school buses of course) =D

First impressions after reading (may not be totally objective... but waiting 5 years for that does not make me very optimistic...)

Quote
"... 85% of them use one of two camera options – bonnet cam and chasing cam, which is quite interesting because we spend a lot of time doing several different cameras in a lot of our games but it turns out that, I think 75% of people use chase, and ten per cent use bonnet, and the remainder do the others. So it’s a huge, huge amount of people that play it in that way. ..."
=> so, dropping cameras (and cockpit view in particular) is just a question of $$$, and not for other reasons as they claimed elsewhere (better environment, countryside, or other BS feature we don't care about)...

Quote
"...We think that means Grid 2 at retail will appeal to a broader consumer than just the hard-core racing fan. ..."
=> so, they confirm they're just doing a NFS clone...

Quote
"...Also, about 90 per cent of our players play using control pads rather than a steering wheel. ..."
=> expect no wheel support (if not in GRiD2, then their next racing game)...

Quote
"...I’d like to think we know our gamers really well...."
=> Epic fail

Quote
"...you’d end up with is a game that is kind of homogenised, a lowest common denominator of racing games if you like..."
=> I'm not sure I like this one very much...

Quote
"...The second part is what we call Road Racing. Open roads, long sweeping, very, very fast, tight routes. ..."
=> Did I hear "NFS The Run"? (also look at the trailer,if it does not look like NFS The Run, I have never played GRiD...)

Quote
"...12, 18 months beyond the launch of the title and that’s absolutely our goal this time around with the multiplayer experience..."
=> not even 2 years before they'll shut down the servers!!!

Quote
"...we know we absolutely have to get it right...."
=> hmmm... then someone must not be wired the right way at CodeMasters...

Quote
"...It’s a sequel to one of our most successful games at Codemasters and it’s very, very important for the business."
=> ah, ok... I get it, then... if it's a matter of business and $$, then f..k the gamers and the fans!!

It does seem GRID 2 going be more of a console racing game than a PC racing game.

We saw what happen to Bugbear and RRU being sold with no wheel support for PC version!! If Codemasters sold any of their racing games without wheel support, they might as well stop selling a PC version since it won't sell very well.

If Codies new the gamers that buy their racing games that well, they should of know it would cause a big stink getting rid of in-car cam or they knew it would and are willing to take the hit.

The new derby racing in GRID 2, the griefers will have a heyday knocking players into the ocean.  Shocked

Now Codies will need to add nitro so players can catch leader in open road race and when player is in 1st place, nitro is disable!!

I think I will like open road racing if it with 12 players online, but it going to be rough and tumble online in most hosts.

If GRID 2 loses the magic of GRID 1, online won't last a year. Still no word from Codemasters that touring car races are still in GRID 2. I've ask a couple of times in the GIRD 2 forum, no reply yet from Loore.

Also Codies need to work out the bugs with their new online servers. Codies online servers for Showdown, a lot players having trouble joining other hosts.
